MATEO CHAVEZ LEWIS (He/They) is a professional Composer/Lyricist and Music Director, working in the musical theatre industry in both NYC and Toronto.

He is best known for writing Book, Music & Lyrics for the critically acclaimed Tommy Rhodes (2024 Toronto World Premiere), and for writing Music & Co-Lyrics for The Opening, which is premiering off-Broadway in 2026 (get tickets here!)

He also runs Music Theatre Theory, a YouTube channel with over 12,000 subscribers, where he analyzes the best songs and performances from the musical theatre canon. You can watch his videos here.

He is currently a proud member of the prestigious BMI Lehman Engel workshop in New York.
